Hello Ladies!
Strange but true: When a male hippo wants to spread the word that he is available he does it by spreading something else - his poop! To make sure all the females around knows he wants a girlfriend, he spins his tail in a circle while pooping. Romance is not dead! This illustration was done for the nice folks at Ranger Rick Magazine.
Get A Grip! We're On A Trip!
Our new graphic novel came out last week! A.J. and the gang are on a field trip to their favorite amusement park. What could go wrong? Will the book be funny, pointless, and goofy? Yes. Will the story involve surly theme park characters, corndogs, and adventure-themed danger? Yes. Do I like answering my own questions? Again, yes.

Taking a breather
The family and I took a break from work and drove to Colorado to visit our son. Lots of hiking, dining and fresh air for all of us. It was just what we needed. Here's Charlie giving me a lunch time lick.
Pigs are gamers, too!
Sometimes gamers have snouts and curly tails. We already knew pigs are smart but now, after a series of studies based on pigs' ability to move a joystick to direct a white dot to a target we know how good they are at solving puzzles and problems. This piece was done for the nice folks at Ranger Rick Magazine.

I'm just coming off a solid three months of work with hardly any let up. So, after finishing another graphic novel for HarperCollins, it's time to draw in the sketchbook just for the fun of it. Anything goes.
Ms. Jo-Jo Is A Yo-Yo!
So this funny little book was released out into the wild last week. The kids at Ella Mentry School are freaking out over upcoming tests so Ms. Jo-Jo has been brought in to help them relax. Turtle yoga will be involved.

I received some good news this week. This piece was accepted in the Society Of Illustrators - Los Angeles juried exhibition. Thank you to the judges and the nice people who run the show.
Time to relax
It was nice taking some time off to catch up on some fun. And some time to relax. Here's a page from my sketchbook. I had a blast trying out some acrylic markers. Lots of fun to play with.

October was a good month for Dad jokes. I was happy to pitch in with the National Wildlife Federation and illustrate another batch of Readers Riddles for Ranger Rick Magazine.
Fall is in the air!
Now that it's October, I always expect the leaves to be golden and mornings to be crisp and cool. But here in central Arizona we have to wait another month for that to happen. But looking at pictures of fall helps a little. Here's an illustration from I book I illustrated a few years ago called, They're There On Their Vacation.

Mr. Marty Loves A Party!
So, this funny little book came out last week. It's A.J.'s birthday and they hired a party planner for the special day. It's a My Weird School book so everything will be fine and the party will come off without a hitch, right? Spoiler alert: things get weird.
